Love, a haiku, known?
You might think and still
Pretend with fire to know
And yet not what is
These seasons alive
These seasons they
Never hate nor hold joy
For any of us humans
Though we are caught up in and embraced by
The suddenness of their experience
For sure
At the end of such days
Not only is there an end
But we can more fully see a certain way
Having traveled thus far
We are were most in fact
Alive
If I speak, I wait, to make sure my emotion in embed or embedded - therein
No regret compels
Only a bettering hope
Without worry or doubt
Please all know
Truly know
That I sleep
Very resoundingly
Full
And sound
But also from earth, I spring
I am a spring
Rooted for deep
Connected to an earth within
And to a gentle heartfelt freeing
Always flowing undercurrent beneath
Of words and growth
These imperfect meanings
And so they flow
Without fear fully
Up
From where I know not
Underneath
From calm to un in water unseen
Some days I am
A square of ocean in the Atlantic
With quiet rainfall above
And a perplexing clarity below
Be it in hues of light green and glowing algae
There I am
Still
(Somehow)
As puddles evaporate
Some days to be alive is
Not to dance in it at all
But to smile as it falls
And waive goodbye
As it puddles and slides
Bye
Until like all undone
As tempting as it is
For man to become
Not himself
But what he has done instead
Please remember my son
No one ever once said
That a man was only
What is done and done
But who he is was instead
Is the source and spring
Out of the mountains which flows
Into everything
Who
Is what you are
Until like all
Undone
From breath, a haiku
Pausing to breathe out
Is the most inward thing known
To the man who runs
Crash
In this long form fight
Where writers beg and die
For long evenings out
And even longer rounds
Of grueling back and forth
Just to ignite their own imaginations
With fiery grandeur and lights
This
Is neither mine
And certainly not a calling
Nor divine right to be
Is simply is
And it is me
I end it all with both short jabs and wild flies
Like a comet arch crashing into victory on the inevitable tracks of a locomotive let loose
Crash
This hopeful mind my own
No county chain
Or commonwealth clasping
Iron or shackle of concrete
Can either hold or encase
The hopeful mind of my own
Or when it decides that
In flight it is better to be
Than to remain as such
On this borough ground beneath
And just like that - I am out
Tanka and tallness
So as the trees stand
And with a new tallness know
Just how much each year
Did they wither and or grow
They do personally know
Desire, root, divine
Heartfelt desire
Is the true root of such things
And in the trying and changing
So forms the experienced tasted
Over the course of many years
Almost perfected until
A usually unawares you
Stumbles in and sits down
Only to then taste and experience
The many years of love shown
In the perfection of taste
Divine
Falling like
Cover me from these falling thoughts
Protect my shoulders
Grace my head
And let the over complications of mind
Reflect and bounce
Move forth and run off
Be a raincoat of mine
And align this unlost
With these pattering heartbeats
Of a rainy afternoon
Named mine
Watching on
What makes my eyes turn
And cheeks a storm
Is only this
Or at least this is one
Standing here
Smiling on
And watching young life live
As I have since discovered that
I have passed
The most passionate youthful eyes by
A prayer into the future, a tanka
A prayer is something
Like an arm reaching out now
Into a future
Of wishes and dreams yet to
Be or becoming of hope
Run to, run to
Run to
Tho people who
In a positive heart
And with a mind bent in joy
Will celebrate with pride
All the good things which are happening
To you
Run to
To those a gift of pity
For those who hate
And with anger speak
The unspoken language of views
Into the being and direction
Of this most perceived you
To them I say this
Speak your speak
Do you do
Mistake not a kind heart
For a weak frame of mind
For this is the most true
As I wish you well
And equally as such
Pity you
These breaths
Breathing is the need
And yet
Days and weeks
And years to by
As we humans forget
To take time
Just to do it
And to be
Us
You
We
All a breath
Twenty three thousand a day
To breathe
Thankfully full
Here sits a contented man
Not because of what
Or even anything
He has seemingly grown to have done
But because of what he has been given
Asked, and required to do
Such a responsibility is not
For a second thought of
As either bother or chore
But a joyous blessing of the most high
Most kind
For sure
I am so thankful
So full
