Time as a tanka
Time unfolding is
Both a blessing and yet curse
When the direction
Of such an unfolded day
Is neither wanted nor know
The nature of fatherhood
The known excellence of one
Cannot be questioned
Even by the existence of a separate other
Which might be more suited or suitable
In mind and matter seen now
It does not matter
For all is done
And suns have passed
Into this cool night of second day
And the memories of such
Will forever last
In this
One way
Or another
This is the nature of fatherhood instilled
Open and release
Open your mind
And release your heart to feel
There
With an outstretched eye you will see
Be it horizon or stars
Atop windows or shelves
Whatever words had evaded you this far
Will suddenly
Be
Kin, family, a tanka
Kin sing these but twice
In years of passing like snow
In their falling ways
Songs will be gone forever
Before your voice can resound
Heights and hopes which rise
No one can match
Defeat
Or fail to mention
The soaring heights
Of the hopes of man
When with unrelenting optimism and gusto
He senses that
The inevitable wind
Will rise again
And flourish rightly in the sails
Wrapped so firmly beneath his feet
Just to settle all other dreams
And all other schemes
Of the unapologetic and unhopeful man
The return
God created man
Perhaps as a way to represent
The highs and lows
Of what the most volatile life of intrigue would be
Or might be
In comparison to his own
Perfect understanding of unison
And the pain which follows
When falling out from same
The chosen path
As surely as this
He yearns for you
He waits for me
The return
The indecisive
Indecision itself
Can sometimes rise up
And be the culprit of being
Which keeps us very much away
From the kind of experience we might wish
To have
To see
And to be
And that indecisive indecision
Is not on them
Oh not
That very same essence or seed
Is me
Darker, darker, a tanka
Remember your past
As there was very much once
A darker home to
Go home to on your own time
And darker vices alike
Change comes for us all
Best is not necessarily the same
In that subtle mind of yours
With its conditions to seek out
Only those know paths
Of which your feet are familiar
No in saying
This is me from afar
Telling you to be cautious
In worshipping that which you currently are
For as surely as change
Comes for us all like the night
Nothing is more admirable than a learned man
Who learns and trains in his own time
For the battle which he and his family
Hopefully never have to
Fight
Sharing breaths
Make no mistake
In either this
A directional or assumptive way
That these twists and turns
Of mind alive
Are in any way lessened by you
And this presence or un
For though I drive at times
You are no less
A passenger in this life
We share
And there is no mistake in that
Sharing of space and air
We breathe one and the same
And so you choose
Choice is such an odd
Such an intoxicating
And yet intimate thing
To say yes I do
I am and will be
Is a powerful thing indeed
To suddenly go
From not being
Into the world of new known as be
And suddenly there you are
As if both mind shift and motivation
Happened over night without reprieve
And so you chose
Just as the earth moves
I ask you
With a strong desire to beg
And say
Follow neither heart
Nor mind alike
But instead you should move
Just as the earth underneath you turns
Slowly
Steadily
And with the desire to be
In a round about way
Both circular and
In the most incomplete way
Complete
Freedom where you sit
Everything you see
Feel and live out to be
Is not due to you at all
In any way
Instead
All that was done by you
In every sense was him
And brought into being by he
Who made you you
In the beginning
And that means in a sense
You are not pointless
You are relentlessly out of control
And forever free
By this anyway due
Ill of nothing at all
Which is you
As he
Created you exactly to be
At this moment in time
Where you sit
And I am thoughts
From thoughts to hands
There are truly only
Two types of man
Both suffer
Wish and strive
But on the opposite ends aside
For they are each
The business success
The interpersonal thrive
And the soul struggling in between
And rarely ever shall they
For even a brief instant
Coincide
This is the nature of burning lives
As there is always a fire
Somewhere
Self bound
Lord only knows
If such time alone
Can unwind the twine
Of a mind spent too much
On its own and in its own ways
Bound
Lord only knows
And Lord only can
Fire and warmth
Aren’t we all just cold souls in the winter
Looking for fire and warmth
To call hearth and home
Perhaps so
Dare into the past
In so many ways now
I have learned to dare
And not to care
In the least about the minds of those
Who in passing pass
And will never last
More than in a minds eye
And for a moment of sight
For all such going’s will go
Into the past
As steam builds
Steam is in
Where heat begins
And so
Even few less know
The depts of words
And how they pool
And suddenly burst
Like downstream steam
And flow into air
Like clinging mists
These once were in
My heartbeat
In
